NATIVE AMERICAN LONGHOUSE
Hardwood flooring, installation, and material holdups have delayed the project’s completion. Hardwood flooring installation has been delayed several weeks, causing project completion to move out to the second week of October. The first few weeks of classes that have been scheduled for the Longhouse will be held elsewhere on campus. Please check class schedules. Finish-out work continues in the building, including painting, hanging doors and kitchen set up. Landscaping is close to complete. Project completion is expected in early October. NATIVE AMERICAN LONGHOUSE
Carpenters are swinging doors and completing interior trim work. Exterior doors should be hung by August 26. Electricians are nearing completion on installation of light fixtures. Installation of the wood flooring system begins on August 23. A concrete floor pattern and stain in the Hall of Honor room has been decided and should be completed by August 30. The bathroom tile work is complete, and the kitchen floor installed. Kitchen equipment will arrive August 23. Landscaping is underway on the north end of the building. The AV contractor is on board and has begun purchasing equipment. Parking lot asphalt has been patched. Expect final inspections over the next two weeks. Project completion expected Sept 10. Carpenters are hanging door frames and trimming out windows. New doors arrived August 13. Electricians are installing light fixtures. The contractor is installing cedar planking up in skylight cupola. Concrete floor stain and polish completed in all but one room. Installation of the wood floor will begin during the week of August 16. Bathroom tile work will be completed by August 17. The kitchen floor will be installed this week, with kitchen equipment to follow. Landscaping work has begun on north end of building. AV bids have been received. Application of concrete floor stain and polish will finish this week. Tile work is nearing completion in restrooms and trim carpentry work has begun. New doors will arrive at the end of this week. Sheetrock installation and finishing should be completed by June 21, when interior painting will commence. Plumbers have completed all gas piping and the building’s meter has been turned on. New building transformer has been installed and electrical work on lighting continues. Landscaping and parking lot work will be beginning the week of June 21. Sheetrock installation will continue this week. Plumbers will be on site completing gas piping for mechanical equipment and installing hot water heaters. The fire department connection was completed last week. Expect main building power to be turned on this week and electricians will continue working on lighting system. Received partial electrical rough in inspection last week and an AV rough in is nearly complete. Rough in for security system, data and phones is also near completion. Installation of drywall was scheduled to begin the week of May 21 and take approximately three weeks to complete. The bid for kitchen equipment has gone out and interior doors and hardware are being ordered. Electrical and AV rough in work is nearly complete. An inspection is scheduled mid-week. The walls are being prepped to allow installation of cedar planking and work is expected to be completed this week. Wall insulation is to be completed by May 17. A new fire department connection to the building is also expected to be completed this week and drywall work will begin and is expected to take approximately five weeks to complete. Mechanical and plumbing rough-in work is largely complete. The fire protection contractor lacks installation of an outside fire department connection, but is otherwise complete. Bid requests for interior wall board and acoustical ceilings have gone out and will close next week. Expect that work to begin mid-May. Electrical rough in is also near completion. Bids have been received for all interior doors and hardware and they will be ordered next week. Two loads of cedar logs that were delivered to the site last week, will be split into planks for the interior wall cladding. Project completion is expected early September. A lot of work is going on at the Longhouse right now. Installation of heating and air conditioning equipment is nearing completion. The HVAC control sub is expected to finish work next week. The electrician is working on power feeds to all new equipment and is also roughing in for kitchen appliances. Plumbers are on site, installing piping for domestic and waste water lines. Planks and walls were prepared this past week for interior siding mock up in the room designated as the Hall of Honor. Mock up is expected to occur this week or next. Work continues on the splitting of a number of cedar logs into siding planks, which are to be used for the building interior. Work has begun on a mock up wall using that interior siding. Plans are also underway to produce a mock up of the display cabinets which will go in the Hall of Honor. The HVAC contractor has submitted information to the engineer to get approval to order equipment. Fire protection contractor is awaiting approval from the fire marshal. Delta Construction has started on underground utility work and will be doing additional site work from June 1-19. FM Sheet Metal will be installing ductwork and Facilities electricians putting in electrical boxes and conduit and will be doing rough-in work for the audio-visual and fire alarm systems. LONGHOUSE UPDATE
Work is resuming with vigor this week on the longhouse project. Electricians are on site laying out boxes and installing low voltage conduit from vault to building. Thad Cowdin from Information Technology is coordinating with National Network Services to begin installation of phone/data lines to the longhouse and on to the waste water treatment plant. Cable will be pulled from the building 4 data room. Delta Construction began utility site work May 26 with re-routing of the storm drain line on the south end of the building and installing the new storm drain line in the adjacent parking lot. Delta has coordinated work with Lease Crutcher Lewis's (LCL) project superintendent. LCL will begin setup in the parking lot on June 2. FM Sheet Metal is fabricating duct and expects to start installing this week. McKenzie Commercial will make framing modifications as needed for ducting. Contact Brian McMurray, (541) 463-5829.

Exterior windows, siding and the roof are complete on the Longhouse at Lane Community College. Bids for limited site work are due on April 14 and lighting package bids are due on April 16. LONGHOUSE LOGS GO UP TODAY
Sixteen Douglas Fir logs measuring 12 feet long by 20 inches in diameter that will serve as upright, interior supports for the 6,200 square foot longhouse will go up today.
The logs are from the Coquille Forest in Southwest Oregon and were donated and blessed by the Coquille Tribe and then turned at a mill in Molalla.
The Longhouse will serve as a multicultural educational facility and meeting place for students and the community. Construction follows years of advocacy and planning by students, staff and others.
About $1 million in cash and in-kind materials has been donated by more than 200 individuals, businesses, organizations, foundations, tribes, and casinos, including $250,000 from the LCC Board of Education.
