Transitioning from IESL to college major programs

At Lane we encourage our IESL students to continue on in the college major program and want to support them in the best way possible.
Steps to transitioning from IESL to college Major:

  • Successfully complete Level 7 of the IESL Program
  • Receive Teacher Recommendation
  • Attend the transition testing and orientation
  • Complete both the Reading/Writing exam and the Mathematics exam
  • Successfully test on the Accuplacer test into at least Reading and Writing 89.
  • See Jane Marshall to determine if you will need a new bank statement or other immigration information.

Important items to know:

  • You will now be required to maintain 12 credits.
  • You will register for your courses at transition orientation.
  • College Major classes are more expensive than IESL courses.
  • You should continue to take writing each term until you complete Writing 121.  This is to help you gain the skills needed to be successful!
