College Now Instructors
Easy Online Admission and Registration Procedures
Before you begin registering students:
- Have your course CRN and school CEEB codes available
- A personal email account is required.
- Students can create a free email address by selecting a provider (Google, Hotmail, Yahoo) and will fill out an online application form.
- Assistance with this process is available at the Lane community College Student Help Desk (541) 463-3333.
- Have students bring their “L” numbers or, if possible, have them set up “L” numbers prior to registering your entire class. Instructions for first-time users is below. (Hint: it isn’t as daunting as it looks!)
- Know who your campus “look up person” is and/or have a list of “L” numbers for your students.
- Request “blue cards” from your look-up person for students to record their “L” numbers.
If you encounter problems in the registration process:
- Different error messages may appear in the process for some students for a wide variety of reasons. Don’t let you or your students become discouraged.
- Pam (and/or your College Now LCC contact person) is happy to get your calls or emails and answer questions. What you need to provide is student name, DOB, L# (if you have it), and it is always helpful if you can provide the error message (if there is one and where in the process the student found it).

Students with “L” numbers -Application and Registration Process (for students who get a notice that the account is inactive, have them enter their “L” number and use their birthday as the pin):
- Access the Lane Community College website at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu
- On home page click on ExpressLane
- Enter the “L” number and pin
- Click on Enrollment Services
- Click on Registration _ there may be an email verification page here – click to continue registration
- Click on Add/Drop Classes
- Select the proper term (i.e. Fall 2010) and hit submit
- Enter the CRN and Click on Submit Changes
Registering First Time Students (without “L” number)
- Access the Lane Community College website at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu
- On home page click Apply Now
- At bottom of the page, click on First time User Account
- Leave the first box (Create a Login ID) blank
- Have students put in their date of birth in Create a pin box using mmddyy, verify, and click to continue
- On the next page, jot down the “G” number and click to continue
- Under Application Type pull down and select College Now HS Class
- On Apply for Admissions page under Admission Term select the appropriate term in which a grade will be given (i.e. Fall 2010)
- Fill out first and Last name boxes and click Fill Out Application
- The goal is to work through the Application Checklist until all four areas is checked. Begin with clicking on Name
- Complete name boxes and click continue
- Fill in address and phone number. Use proper abbreviations, capitals letters, and correct spelling – click continue
- On the personal information page the only field that needs to be completed is the birth date.
- On the High School page put in the CEEB code. (Hint: do not click on Look Another High School)
- Use the graduation date of June 15 in the correct year (doesn’t have to be date accurate) and click continue
- At this point the Application Checklist should be complete and show all four checks. Click on Application is Complete
- The Application Final Page should contain the student’s “L” number. Have the student record this number (blue cards are available from LCC through your look-up person)
- Click on Access Web for Student
- Click on Registering for Classes
- Click AGAIN on Registering for Classes
- Under Re-enter Old Pin have student put in birth date as before
- Then they create a new pin (Hint: encourage students to use something that does not change such as a pet’s name, favorite food, or address. Mother’s first name would be a better choice.) Click Login.
- Enter a reliable question to produce the pin chosen and click submit
- On Terms of Usage, click continue
- On Important User Message, suggest that students do not update their address information at this point, but rather click I verify this address. (Hint: They can reenter later under Expresslane/Login/Personal Information.)
- On the ExpressLane Main Menu, choose Enrollment Services
- There may be an Important User Message here. Just Continue to Enrollment Services
- On Enrollment Services – Main Menu, click Registration
- Click on Add/Drop Classes
- Select the proper term (i.e. Fall 2010) and hit submit
- Enter the CRN and Click on Submit Changes
