Test Accommodations

with Disability Resources Assistance, for Faculty

Instructors are responsible for providing most test accommodations. However, certain accommodations may require D.R. assistance. If our assistance is needed, the instructor, the student, and the appropriate D.R. staff member will work together to ensure that test accommodations are arranged in a timely way. The student is responsible for making the initial contact with D.R. a minimum of 5 business days in advance in order for D.R. to complete the test accommodation arrangements. For additional information, see our general Test Accommodations page.

If a student in your class has requested Test Accommodations through the D.R. office:

  • You will be provided a red envelope with the student's name, test date and test time scheduled by our office. Please use the space provided for you to note any special instructions and the allotted time the rest of the class has to take the exam. (This is necessary in order to calculate extended time for those students who qualify for that accommodation.) Please be aware that if you have not specifically clarified that the student can use notes, books, etc. during the test, the student will not be allowed to do so even if they insist that you have authorized this. You will need to place the test in the envelope and return it to our office as soon as possible. We do not recommend sending exams by Intercampus mail because it may be delayed. Contact D.R. at (541) 463-5150 to arrange pick-up or delivery to our office.

  • Whenever possible, we like to have all accommodation details completed at least one day before the exam, to allow for any format changes, enlargements, etc.

  • The Test Accommodation Specialist will locate a testing space, arrange for a proctor/Service Provider, assure that a copy of the exam has been received by D.R., and that all test arrangements are in place at the scheduled test time.

  • If you plan to administer pop-quizzes, or your exam includes a lab (like Bio or Chem), please work closely with our Testing Accommodation staff to coordinate the details. We’re happy to work with you, in the background, to make the accommodation process as smooth as possible, and still allow you the opportunity to surprise all students equally. If you have any questions, please contact Cathie Reschke at ext. 5079 or reschkec@lanecc.edu

If you have any questions, problems or concerns, please contact a Test Accommodation Specialist at (541) 463-5280 or DRTA@lanecc.edu.
