Placement Testing

Students will need to make an appointment to take their placement tests.  After they complete the admissions form online, it will take 24 hours to receive the Lane ID or L number.  Once they receive their L#, they can make an appointment to take the tests.  Please go to the LCC testing office website for instructions on how to sign up for a testing time. If there are any problems signing up for a test, please call the testing office at (541) 463-5324.

  • The computerized testing can be scheduled at the following times:  9:00, 11:30 and 2:00.  Testing will not be available on a drop-in basis. Students can choose which tests they want to take. They can take all 3 tests (Reading, Writing and Math) in one sitting, or at separate times.  Sign up for an earlier time if extra test time is needed.

  • The computerized version of the test is un-timed.  However, if the student believes he/she will need more than the scheduled 2 ½ hours of the testing appointment to complete the tests, contact the testing office.  They will arrange for the student to take the test in a separate room so there will be no interruptions or need to move to a different room once the next session begins.

  • Re-testing for reading or writing will be allowed only under exceptional circumstances. These placements tests are important. Therefore, students need to be prepared before they schedule placement tests.

  • Math Testing:  Students will have two chances to take the math test within a 3-month period. If they want to take the test a third time, they must wait three months. Math tests can be taken either on the computer or on paper, and scores are good for 1 year.

  • A paper version of the computerized placement test can be used in special circumstances.  This is a timed test.  In order to be able to take this test with no time limitations, the student needs to have Disability Resources accommodations that would allow for this.

  • Alternate Test Formats Available:  Students with disabilities may take the placement tests using an alternate format, including an audio cassette version, Braille or large print edition.  It is best to coordinate these versions in advance with the testing office or through Disability Resources.

  • Coordinate Needed Accommodations through Disability Resources: Students who need additional accommodations in order to take their placement tests should contact Disability Resources prior to scheduling the placement tests.
