Welcome to Disability Resources!

Disability Resources is committed to being a resource for students, faculty and staff, with the goal of improving access to the learning environment for all students.

Students with disabilities may experience a number of barriers within the learning environment, including printed materials, spoken lectures, timed exams and pop quizzes, inaccessible physical environments, videos, or online content.

We work with students to set up accommodations for classes, provide general advising and discuss learning strategies. There are a variety of accommodations that students might use, including extra time on tests, reduced distraction testing, note-taking assistance, use of alternate format textbooks, etc. We collaborate with each student to identify which accommodations will be most useful in both credit and noncredit classes.

Overview of the Process

To begin the process of signing up with Disability Resources, we ask that you:

  • Submit a Disability Resources Application
  • Submit paperwork that describes how your disability affects you in the learning environment (see the General Release Form).
  • Attend a Student Interview so that we can have a more in-depth discussion of what works for you and what is challenging while you are in school.

Obtaining Supporting Disability Paperwork

  • Many students obtain their disability paperwork from providers, such as:
    • Health Care Providers
    • Mental Health Care Providers
    • High School Records
    • Audiologists
    • Vocational Rehabilitation
    • Commission for the Blind
    • Social Security Records
    • Veteran’s Administration
  • You may give the provider a Disability Resources Release Form, or provide Disability Resources with copies of medical records, evaluations or diagnostic reports. We encourage you to make copies for your records.

What Happens Next?

  • During the Student Interview, we will finalize your accommodations.
  • You will receive a Letter of Accommodation that you can share with your instructors to discuss the accommodations you will be using in their classes.
  • Each term, you will complete an Accommodation Request Form to inform Disability Resources about what accommodations you plan to use for specific classes.

If you have any questions, feel free to stop by the Disability Resources office on the Main Campus in Building 1, Room 218.  Call (541)463-5150, for TTY: 711, or e-mail us at disabilityresources@lanecc.edu.

We look forward to working with you.
