Dance Winter Term 2012

Argentine Tango for Absolute Beginners

A dance of intense connection between two people, a dance of mystery. A social walking dance.  There are no set predetermined steps.  It is a pure dance of improvised lead and follow.  No partner required. Fun, safe and gentle. For more information go to: www.youcandancestudio.com.

Ballroom Dance

Ballroom dance including traditional ballroom: Smooth Dances - American style fox trot, waltz, tango; Rhythm - East Coast swing, cha cha and mambo/salsa. Basic techniques in patterns - lead and follow. Course includes music and rhythm count. Couples and singles welcome. Instruction includes bronze and silver styling. Linda Hansen-Staver is a NDC of America certified instructor.

Beginning Clogging

Clogging resembles a cross between tap and line dancing. Performed to contemporary music, precision clogging is fun, challenging, and healthful.  Can be enjoyed by all ages.  Comfortable, flat-soled shoes are required.

Belly Dancing

An excellent way to wake up on Saturday morning!  Combine fun with fitness and increase your flexibility, strength, and self-confidence in a comfortable setting.  Learn basic isolations, foundation movements, and traveling moves in Egyptian style.  Course includes instruction in zills/finger cymbals, veils, choreography, plus information on the historical and musical elements of Middle Eastern dance.

Couples Connection and Social Dance

You will learn social dancing that will change your life in wonderful and unexpected ways. This class will explore all the social dances: swing, tango, salsa, and slow dancing.  Designed for couples, in addition to the steps, we will learn the techniques for non-verbal communication in dance. These include trust, forgiveness, and overcoming fear/ gaining courage. In addition to his ballroom awards, the instructor is in demand as a teacher of connection and communication skills for marriage retreats

Saturday Night Ballroom Dance for Couples

This class will explore four international ballroom dances: Viennese Waltz, Samba, Rumba, and Slow waltz. This class is designed for couples and in addition to the steps we will learn the techniques for effective lead and follow. You will learn to correctly stand, walk, and breathe and this will enhance your life and your dancing. Robert is a top teacher recipient from regional ballroom competitions, competing professional, dance judge, and performer at many local and state wide events. You will look and feel better then you ever have on the dance floor after you complete this class
