Board seats up for election
Here’s an opportunity that comes around only once every two years—a chance to run for election to the Lane Community College Board of Education.
Serving on the board is a way to make a positive difference in the lives of the nearly 38,000 students a year who depend on Lane for career training and a college education. It’s a way to invest in the community and serve voters and taxpayers.
The board establishes policies that govern the college. It also makes budget decisions and oversees the development of educational and training programs.
Seven elected members serve on the board, from five specific zones and two at-large positions. Terms are for four years. Elections are staggered and held in odd-numbered years.
Candidates must file with Lane County Elections at 275 W 10th Ave. The filing period closes March 17. The election is May 17.
Seats up for election are—
- Zone 2, North Eugene, Coburg, Harrisburg and Junction City
- Zone 5, central Eugene, south of Willamette River and east of City View Street
- Position 6 At-Large, representing the entire district
- Position 7 At-Large representing the entire district
