Renewal at LCC helps realize dreams

Construction is transforming Lane Community College and fast achieving the dream of first-rate facilities for our community’s best education and training programs.

Contractors have been busy on a myriad of projects including a new Health and Wellness building on main campus, multiple repairs, retrofits and remodels, and continuing work on the Native American Longhouse. We’ve built a new state-of-the-art science lab in Florence.

The list keeps growing—did I mention the efforts of LCC and the City of Eugene to build a new Downtown Campus across from the library?

Thanks to voters who approved our $83 million bond in 2008, and generous acts of philanthropy, LCC is rapidly moving to better serve its community and students.

This has been a boon to the local workforce and economy. Of more than 50 subcontractors working on the various projects, 90 percent have been local.

Lane’s Board of Education would like to acknowledge the leadership team of Dave Willis, LCC director of facilities management and planning, Todd Smith, an LCC graduate responsible for main campus and Florence projects, and Bob Mention, an architect and former LCC board member currently managing the Downtown Campus project.

Renewal is transforming Lane, and dreams are being realized.
