Leadership for a Positive Future
Students seek a career or the courses they need to succeed. Faculty and staff strive to provide the best possible education and services. The board governs to keep the college in step with community needs. All the while, President Mary Spilde effectively guides us all toward a positive future through her remarkable and visionary leadership.
This summer marks Mary’s eighth year as president of Lane Community College. Under her direction, we’ve preserved our comprehensive mission and advanced towards fiscal stability, despite a volatile economy. We’ve set the pace in emerging fields like sustainability and energy management.
Mary takes her advocacy for Lane and community colleges to the highest levels this year in her new role as chair of the American Association of Community Colleges board, where she has served as a member since 2006.
A tough economy continues to challenge us, but Mary’s insight and leadership will help all of us achieve our dreams at Lane Community College.
