Community survey results show a positive view of Lane

In a continuing effort to stay in touch with the community’s changing needs, Lane has initiated a
multi-faceted research project. Among these research components is a recent community
perception survey of 600 people living throughout Lane County. The survey collected valuable
information that will help Lane to better serve students and our community.

Key findings:

  • Respondents are generally familiar (80% responded as being familiar) with Lane and have an overall favorable impression of the college.
  • Affordability and accessibility are seen as key components to Lane's mission and core identity (87% of respondents ranked this concept as very important).
  • Respondents are satisfied with the range of offerings (71% rated the range of programs offered as good or excellent).
  • Vocational and technical training, transfer studies, and GED courses are specific programs that are highly valued (86-89% respondents ranked these programs as very important).
  • The Downtown Center is less well known than the main campus (only 52% responded as being familiar), but it is vital in providing access for those that are dependent on public transportation.

Lane is highly valued for its role in helping people to improve their lives and for making higher education available to all members of the community.
