Scholarships -
Essential to student success
Scholarship trusts support students and the college
"Through the years, I've been inspired by the students at Lane Community College and what they were trying to achieve," retired science instructor Bill Buskirk says. "That’s why my wife Lynn and I decided to provide funding for scholarships. It gave us a chance to support the college and help students achieve their dreams."
Bill Buskirk taught microbiology, anatomy and physiology at Lane for 25 years. When he and his wife crafted their estate plan, they chose to support the college beyond their lifetimes by making Lane a beneficiary of their trust.

There’s a scholarship for you at Lane Community College
If you enroll at Lane Community College, you'll have access to hundreds of scholarship opportunities to help you obtain your education.
Awards are available based on your major, financial need, academic merit, or other criteria. Last year, scholarships were available under 47 different subject headings. The awards for 2006/2007
included: six $1,000 LibertyBank Making a Difference Scholarships, three $5,000 Rosaria P. Haugland Foundation Scholarships, and 33 $750 Shining Star Scholarships.
The variety of scholarships is
amazing, but all of them have one
thing in common: you must apply
by March 12.
You’ll find everything you need in the annual Scholarship Opportunities booklet published by the Lane Foundation. The 2007/2008 booklet will be available in early January at Lane’s Career and Employment Services, Building 1 on the main campus, or high school counseling offices throughout Lane County, or the Lane Foundation web pages at
2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/foundation.
