Welcome to a new academic year
-By Mary Spilde, President
Lane Community College can help you chart a smooth course from high school to university or the workplace. You'll save time, money and hassle.
College Now is a great example. This dual enrollment program offers college courses at local high schools-for free! Almost 3,000 students participated last year. For instance, Josh Simmons, our cover story in this issue of Aspire, earned 38 tuition-free college credits at Thurston High. Now he has a head start on his plans to complete two years at Lane and transfer to Oregon State University to study engineering.
Once at Lane, our dual enrollment agreements with the University of Oregon and Oregon State allow you to concurrently enroll for greater access to the courses you want. We’re also collaborating with Oregon Health and Science University to offer an advanced nursing degree.
Higher education will help you find a better career and make more money. Associate degree graduates earn a national median weekly wage of $721-high school graduates earn only $595. The more you learn, the more you earn.
Now is the time to start toward your successful future. Lane Community College can help you get there.
