Lane Community College: The Parnell Years
This is an exhibit about the establishment of Lane Community College and its first president, Dale Parnell, 1965-1968. The exhibit features photographs, documents, and text from Lane Community College: The Parnell Years written by Larry Romine and published in 1998.

 


Sam Blackwell Photographs in France, 1944-45
Sam Blackwell, photography instructor, served in the medical corps in France during World War II, 1944-1946 and took photos of camp activities and French towns and countryside.



Bucking Bales on the Gonyea Property in 1957 - Bob Ackerman
As a college student in 1957, Bob Ackerman (Board member, 1965-1973, 1999-2003) recalls a summer job working on the Gonyea farm which became the main campus of Lane Community College.


Counting the Ballots on October 19, 1964 - Larry Romine & Bert Dotson
The ballots for the election that established the college were counted throughout the night and morning of October 19-20.


Eleanor Roosevelt Visits Eugene Vocational School in 1941
On May 1, 1941, Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, visited the Eugene Vocational School, a predecessor of Lane Community College.


Elderberry Wine: Radio Commentaries by Peter Wotton, 1982-1996
Peter Wotton broadcast weekly commentaries on KLCC-FM radio in Eugene, Oregon, from 1982 until his death in 1996.  His commentaries focused on issues of interest to older people in his community.  This exhibit includes a selection of '"Elderberry Wine" commentaries
.


Grateful Dead in Concert, 1971
The Grateful Dead appeared in concert at LCC on January 22, 1971.

Living & Farming at Lane in 1924-25 - Harold Haskell
In 1924-1925, as a child of six or seven years old, the Rev. Harold Haskell lived on his family's farm on land that became Lane's main campus
. He was interviewed by student Dierdre Reynolds in 1976 for a class project.
