About the Massage Therapy Program Lane Community College’s massage program is designed to give the student a strong foundation in the academics as well as the hands-on skills of therapeutic massage. The training in this program prepares the student to apply to take the Oregon Board of Massage Therapists Licensing Exams. Our classes are approved by the Oregon Board of Massage Therapists and approved by the State of Oregon Department of Community College and Workforce Development , and are taught by knowledgeable and dedicated health professionals in the field of massage and bodywork. The Oregon Board of Massage Therapists require documentation of completion of a minimum of 500 classroom hours in order to apply to sit for their licensing exams. The 500 hours must be comprised of 200 hours of health sciences which include Anatomy/Physiology, Pathology and Kinesiology and 300 hours of Massage Theory and Practical Application, Clinical Practice, Business Development, Communication, Ethics, Sanitation and Hydrotherapy. To sit for the exams, students must be at least 18 years of age. Lane’s current program is 629 contact hours. Cost of tuition and fees to complete the program is approximately $6500. (Academic Year 2011-12). Text books total approximately $600.
