Distinguished Alumni:
Paul Machu
Paul Machu grew up in Los
Angeles and Beverly Hills
working odd jobs in the film
industry. Later, he studied film
production at Los Angeles
City College and science and
communications at Santa
Monica College. In 1979 he
moved to Eugene and enrolled
in film and media classes at Lane
Community College where he launched a successful future
in the news and entertainment industry.
Paul made career connections through his instructors at
Lane. They referred him to a local TV station to work as
a production assistant. He was soon promoted to writer,
producer, director, and then executive director. In 2000, he
joined Chambers Productions and continues a successful
partnership with them today. He’s also an adjunct instructor
at the University of Oregon.
He has won numerous industry awards including “Best Local Commercial” from the National Association of Broadcasters.
Paul stays connected with Lane. He taught studio production here from 1984-85, has produced commercials and videos for the college, serves on the media advisory committee, and mentors student interns. He says internships are a great way for students to meet potential employers.
The Lane Community College Foundation is proud to recognize Paul Machu as one of our 2010 Distinguished Alumni.
