Distinguished Alumni:
Greg Ausland Designs Success
Ever admire Oregon’s historic covered bridges? Lane Community College alumnus and civil engineer Greg Ausland helped restore 26 of them.
Ausland took engineering courses at Lane in the 1980s and transferred to Oregon State University to get his bachelor’s degree. After college, he got a job at OBEC Consulting Engineers of Eugene, where he is now a principal. OBEC is recognized as the state’s top engineering firm.
Ausland has won national recognition for his work in designing and restoring bridges. He also has worked on flood control redesign for Lithia Park in Ashland, a cable-stay bridge over Delta Highway in Eugene, transforming the Eugene train depot, and other projects.
An advocate for Lane, Ausland serves on the Engineering Transfer Program Advisory Committee and volunteers for United Way. He has made a tremendous positive impact on many lives.
Ausland recommends Lane to anyone interested in engineering. His son went through the program too, and played for the Titans baseball team, giving his dad an extra opportunity to cheer for Lane.
The Lane Community College Foundation is proud to recognize Greg Ausland as a 2009 Distinguished Alumni. For more information go online at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/foundation.
