Juan Carlos
Valle:
Giving Back
to the
Community
He was an immigrant who didn’t finish high
school and couldn’t speak English. Twice after
arriving in Eugene, he found himself homeless.
But Juan Carlos Valle used resources at Lane
Community College and the Centro
Latinoamericano to put himself on a path to
success.
A high-school equivalency certificate and then an associate’s degree in hospitality management from Lane got him started. Then Juan transferred from Lane to the University of Oregon and earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in business administration.
During his years of study, Juan held a variety of positions in the public sector and now works for the Social Security Administration. But Valle has a new and greater goal: to give something back. He has earned a Not-For-Profit Management certificate from the UO and put those additional skills to work as a board member for both Birth To Three and as Board President at Centro Latino Americano while he continues work toward a master’s degree in Public Administration. He was also appointed to the Eugene Police Commission in 2007.
The Lane Community College Foundation is proud to recognize Juan Carlos Valle as a Distinguished Alumni.
