I am happy to present to you Lane Community College's new strategic plan. By building on the college's nationally recognized past achievements, this plan will enable Lane to launch into the new century with confidence and vitality.

Lane's strategic plan reflects a belief that planning will be successful only if it is learning-based. That vision implies a highly participatory set of planning processes that are conducted in an atmosphere of open review and continuous evaluation. During the strategic planning process, members of our community, as well as our faculty, classified staff, management, Board of Education, and administration, came together to contribute their best thinking about Lane's future through a variety of interactive opportunities. This inclusive approach to planning has both given us a better plan and strengthened our ability to communicate within the institution.

In order to implement this plan, we must create new ways to link budgeting and resource allocation to strategy, blending these processes to provide a more fertile environment for supporting the success and empowerment of our students, faculty, and staff. We must be able continuously to review and update our strategies as the world constantly changes around us.

I want to personally thank the Strategic Planning Project Team and the multitude of others who contributed to the success of the planning process. 

We have a plan; now we must work together to realize its goals as it takes Lane Community College forward into the future.
