INTRODUCTION

A sailing ship
A good strategic plan provides the college with the tools for decision-making. As Seneca once observed:
"Our plans miscarry because they have no aim. When a man does not know what harbor he is making for, no wind is the right wind."
Through the process of strategic planning, we attempt to measure the winds of change and decide how best to harness those winds so they carry us to our destination.

Our destination is determined by our mission; it represents where we are going. Our vision and values are our vessel. The Strategic Plan serves as our chart, telling us how we will proceed to our destination and how we will know when we have arrived.

We are many, and we need to set out and arrive together. The Strategic Planning Team's goal is to provide the means for us to accomplish that aim by understanding where we, as a college, are headed. We hope that the information you find on these pages will help you understand the processes we are following, and that you will help us chart the new course.
