Methodology Consultants
First Phase
Coopers & Lybrand served as project consultants during the first phase of Process Redesign at Lane Community College. With this firm's assistance, the college was able to define services to students as the most pressing area in need of reevaluation. We feel that improving services to students is the most effective way to enhance the overall quality of college operations. Please see the Students First! Page for more information.
Second Phase
The second phase Lane's redesign process focuses on the development of specific recommendations, plans and processes for the implementation of change. For this phase a new consulting firm, KPMG Peat Marwick, was chosen.
We feel that Peat Marwick brings a fresh perspective to Lane's redesign process. The firm has broad exposure to the higher education environment and a critical understanding of the interaction of departments and processes within educational institutions. We have found that their expertise is particularly impressive with regard to Financial Aid, Admissions, Student Records, Student Accounts and Counseling.
Peat Marwick consultants have the critical ability to compare college processes and needs with those of other institutions. They have an understanding of the college's desire to eventually become independent of consultants and manage Process Redesign as a continuous, broad-based internal function. They will also serve to provide perspective on the critical interactions of administrative processes and academic initiatives, including the need to involve all levels of participants from students to board members in the evolution of change. We feel their emphasis on the use of staff as co-consultants and change agents will be particularly effective at Lane.
