Students First Implementation Planning Team Report Logo Chapter Eight
Next Steps

Table of Contents | Students First! Page

In this report, the Implementation Planning Team has provided an analysis of the recommendations, developed detailed steps for implementation, outlined the skills and responsibilities of individuals who will coordinate the implementation effort, and identified the factors critical to successful implementation. The foundation has been poured and now it's time for Lane to construct the building. This chapter describes the next steps Lane will take to implement the recommendations.

Executive Leadership Team Approval

The Implementation Planning Team will present the plan to the Executive Leadership Team for approval. Approval will signal to the Lane community that leadership is committed to moving forward with the creation of a team-based work environment and changing the processes used to deliver services to students.

Identify Budget Implications

Funds have been allocated for the initial stages of implementation. However, as resources are reallocated and new resource requirements are identified, Lane will need to ensure that the determination of funding needs is in sync with the budget process.

Coordinate with Bond Facilities Planning Process

Lane is in the unique position of being able to create physical facilities to complement the redesign effort. Continual coordination between redesign implementation and the bond facilities process will be essential to ensuring facilities will support the new service delivery paradigm.

Integrate Redesign with Detailed Processes

Redesign is an iterative process that will require the participation of the entire Lane community. Implementation of the recommendations will necessitate a closer look at the individual processes that are affected by the changes. Individuals need to learn that redesign is not in addition to work, it is their work. Incorporating change and innovation in the work environment will place Lane in a leadership position amongst its peers and in the higher education community.
