Associate
of Arts Oregon Transfer for Dance Majors -- At
Lane students can earn their Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree in a cost effective manner and transfer to any Oregon college or university as a junior. See

The Lane dance program maintains an articulation agreement with the University of Oregon Dance Department making it possible to transfer some dance credits. Students must audition
at the University of Oregon or any out-of-state institution offering a degree in dance. Lane offers the instructional quality and range of courses necessary for the serious dance student to achieve the technical proficiency required to audition as a third-year dance major. Students must be highly motivated, disciplined and self-directed.
Several of our dance courses are transferrable arts and letters credits:
- D251 - Looking at Dance
- D256 - Body as Knowledge / Body Fundamentals
- D260 - Group Choreography
Dance Classes:
For the serious dance student planning to transfer to a four year institution as a dance major, the Lane Dance Program offers a balance in technical training, creative artistry and performance. Progressive training is offered in Modern Dance and Ballet along with classes in dance Improvisation, Composition and Choreography. A variety of performance venues are offered within the academic year. The curriculum is supplemented with elective courses including Jazz, Hop-Hop, Contact Improvisation, Authentic Movement, and Body/Mind Stretch and Relaxation.
Arts and Letters Transfer Courses: The Dance Program offers three courses that satisfy the arts and letters requirement for the Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree.
Master Classes: There are many opportunities to learn from both the inspiring Lane Dance Faculty and renowned visiting artists. Lane dance students have had the privilege of taking master classes with artist such as Bill Evans, Susan Marshall, Alvin Ailey Dance Company, David Parsons Dance Company, Joe Goode Dance Company, Pat Graney, Christian Swenson, Nita Little, Martha Graham Dance Company, Nrityagram Dance Company, Amy O'Neil, Aaron Draper, and Repertory Dance Company.
Talent Grants: Talent Grants are awarded to exemplary students who demonstrate the potential to succeed in the field of dance. This includes talent, dedication, discipline, commitment and respect for the art. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 in Performing Arts and at least a 2.0 in other courses. Students must demonstrate outstanding studentship, which includes modeling of high standards and respect for teachers, fellow students and the facilities. Talent Grant students are chosen through auditions by the dance faculty to serve as role models in the program.
