LASR Update Agenda
Web for Employees will be demonstrated at the October 18 LASR Update along with an update about payroll, a student procedure change and a brief Lane budget update.
Banner Upgraded
Banner will be upgraded to version 5.5, Financial Aid to 5.61 and Finance to 5.4 in November.
Database Clone
The next database clone is scheduled for October 19.
Finance Update
The Finance team is discussing the best format to use when extracting financial data for college reports. The team is also working to identify the best way to load historical financial data that can only be loaded once. The Finance team recommended to LIMT that historical financial information not be brought into Banner at the transactional level. LIMT approved the recommendation. Departments may submit a request to LIMT to bring forward data. The general approach will be to use other data structures, such as Oracle tables, to store historical information that the college requires, rather than the Banner data structures.
Classroom and Event Scheduling
The Series 25 Advisory Group (SAG) held their second meeting to discuss dedicated and special use classrooms and what attributes make the rooms special use. The group will help prepare the four LCC employees who will attend the Series 25 software training on November 4 in Portland.
Student Team Update
The credit portion of the LCC catalog will be in Pre-prod (PPRD) in time for the October 19 clone. Following the clone, the team will start loading credit-free courses.
The Data Standards team recommended to LIMT that Human Resources and Student use current Lane IDs as the alternate ID field in Banner to reduce the impact on services of using the L number only. LIMT will endorse using former ID numbers with the understanding that students can choose their own alternate ID number and will not be required to use their SSN as the alternate.
Helen Garrett attended Faculty Council to talk about procedural changes recommended by the Student Core Team for financial aid disbursements, administrative withdrawals and the refund period. Faculty expressed concern that they had not been consulted about the change. Helen reminded the Council that current project information is provided through monthly LASR Update sessions, the Daily and the LASR Project Web Page and that faculty have representation on the Student Core Team. The new procedures will be discussed at the October 18 LASR Update, Manager’s Forum and ISSM.
Human Resources
ExpressLane staff training is scheduled the last two weeks of October and the first two weeks of November. Several structured classes will be offered as well as drop-in open labs. L numbers, PINs and Confidentiality Statements will be distributed at all classes and open labs. Staff who participate in the October/November training will be able to view their pay stubs on the Web. Training for Administrative Assistants and Managers will be scheduled soon.
Financial Aid Update
The team is building data in PPRD and working on award tables, basic award information, detail codes, tracking and letters. Training this week is on student employment, loans and PELL grants.
