Discussion items for the October 18 LASR Update
- lag pay
- Human Resources ExpressLane training
- Student Process Changes for Admin Withdrawal, Add, Drop, Refunds and FA Disbursement
Computer literacy staff training
The LASR Project is offering seven basic computer literacy classes October 7 through October 19 for staff who have little or no computer experience. The classes will prepare staff for the Human Resources ExpressLane training on how employees will enter leave and time sheet data electronically in mid-October and early November. The department will be responsible for entering the data for Specialized Employment employees and certain employees in Family and Health Careers. Food Services has requested the department enter all data for employees.
Transparent Budget Work
The budget office is working on recommendations received last Spring from the transparent budget team. Kaaren O’Rourke, Business Technologies faculty, is working with the budget office to create transparent budget information and develop a training package. Kaaren, James Brunner, Linda DeWitt and Kay Malmberg met on Friday to discuss these issues.
Alternate Ids and Social Security Numbers
L numbers are the designated ID numbers for LCC. The student team is interested in using the current COCO student ID as an alternate ID in Banner. A concern exists that anyone with access to native Banner could see another person’s SSN. LIMT will discuss this topic again at the next meeting after Data Standards has reviewed all the issues and will make a final decision.
Steering Committee Guidance
The project has not had reasonable representation from the LASR Steering Committee at meetings. LIMT discussed options and agreed on the following process to keep the Steering Committee informed:
- The Steering Committee will be informed of major issues via email.
- If no response is received from the Steering Committee, LIMT will move forward with the team’s recommendation.
- The current Steering Committee meeting schedule will remain unchanged.
Stephen Pruch will inform ET of issues.

Change of Practice/Procedure for Students
The Student Core Team presented a Change of Practice/Policy Notification to LIMT regarding financial aid disbursement, administrative withdrawal refund period, add/drop period and a “w” transcript annotation. The change will provide a 100% refund the first week of class only if students never attend a class for which they registered. Benefits of the change are:
o students will settle into classes earlier,
o classes will be available sooner to wait list students
o Financial Aid can be disbursed the second week of the term.
The final document will be presented to LIMT at the October 14 meeting. Helen Garrett will discuss the changes at Faculty Council and the LASR Update. Jane Scheidecker and Chuck Appleby will communicate the changes to instructional managers.
“Drop dead” Date for Decision About lag Payroll
Last Friday, Mary Spilde asked for a “drop dead” date for faculty’s decision about the lag payroll. The request was discussed with Human Resources and an agreement was made that Human Resources will receive an answer by Friday, October 11. It was noted that the cost and time involved to build a separate payroll system for faculty will be considerable.
