LIMT Meeting Minutes

Monday  September 15, 2003

Updates

  • Datamart decision
    • The decision to purchase all 4 Banner datamart products (Finance, HR, Student and Financial Aid) was approved at the September 10 Board meeting. The initial implementation will be Finance.  Next steps include:
      • Complete negotiations and sign contract
      • Research and purchase hardware
      • Configure hardware and install software
      • Schedule Finance implementation consulting hours
      • Begin training and consulting visits, possibly winter term
      • Select end user query tool (browser-based, such as Web Focus or new Evisions product)
      • Identify and train system users
      LIMT will need to keep the college community informed of the implementation timelines for each system.
Issues
  • Consulting hours feedback
    • Finance, Student and Financial Aid do not anticipate a need for additional consulting hours.  HR may need some additional hours, likely in conjunction with the Budget Office.  Linda will follow up with Dennis on the details. If S25 adds scheduling seats, there may be a need for additional training.  It will depend on the willingness of areas such as Workforce Development to convert to using the R25 tool rather that GroupWise calendars to schedule their facilities.  An advantage of using R25 is that the entire campus knows the scheduling information and it becomes easier to assist students and others who are looking for specific events.
  • Luminis team composition
    • Luminis, (renamed from Campus Pipeline) is the SCT portal product.  The decision about whether the college should purchase and install this product is a significant decision that impacts the way the college chooses to communicate with students in the future.  This decision is as important for the college as the decision to purchase Banner. Features of the system include:
      • The ability to “push” information to specific groups of students;
      • E-mail accounts for all students and staff, which could replace GroupWise;
      • A home page for each class, including bulletin boards and chat rooms.
    • ET will charter a team to make a recommendation on this purchase decision.  Groups that would provide important representation include:
      • The Office of Instruction and Student Services
      • TACT
      • The Web Steering Committee
      • The Instructional Technology Strategic Planning Group
      • Faculty Council (2)
      • Student Services (FA and one other area)
      • LIMT
      • BWEL
