LIMT Meeting Minutes

Monday  September 8, 2003

Updates

  • Over 3,000 students registered in 7,341 seats in the first 3 days of returning student registration.
  • LIMT reviewed ExpressLane logon statistics for August.
CS Issues
  • Staff who use Macs are getting a security message when they enter the system.  Computer Services may want to provide more information about what this message means.
  • Registration activity on September 5 was more than double the previous high activity date, June 2.  The system performed very well, and any slowdowns were in an acceptable range.  SCT is still working on a systemic solution to slowdown problems on peak days.
Issues
LIMT met with Peer-to-Peer for the first ½ hour of the meeting. The following topics were addressed:
  • Peer to Peer
    • Changes to the screen displays in Banner 6.x, including the replacement of the “red door” with a white ‘X’ on a blue background;
    • Finance training is coming but not yet scheduled;
    • 2003-2004 budget will be loaded by September 15; make position budget changes this week to have them correctly loaded in the budget;
    • CS is working on fixing HR proxies that were lost with the 6.x upgrade;
    • E-mail budget corrections to Budget Office and Stan. Work with Stan on hierarchy issues;
    • Finance will focus on getting roll-ups working correctly this year;
  • Datamart Decision
    • The purchase of the SCT Datamart is on the Board agenda this week;
    • P2P suggested that end-users be involved in the purchase decision for a query tool;
    • New syllabus functionality may be available for spring term; faculty will participate in the implementation of this;
  • Consulting Hours?
LIMT approved moving forward with the purchase of the SCT Datamart in September order to take advantage of price incentives offered by SCT.  This purchase is on the consent agenda for the September 10 Board meeting. The Datamart implementation will need to include education for the campus on when to use the Datamart vs. the transactional database to answer questions.

Each module needs to provide feedback on whether it needs additional consulting hours. LIMT will discuss this at the September 15 meeting.

Module Updates as Needed

  • Student:  There were only a few student concerns related to fall registration.  The major impact of registration on Enrollment Services has been getting updated information from returning students and sorting out the different registration times for new and continuing/returning students.  Two students reported being unable to see the ExpressLane logo.  This is a result of “ad blocker” software that these students are running on their computers.  One student erroneously thought that her lack of a DSL connection prevented her from accessing the system early in the morning.
  • FA: This team has had difficulty getting letters to print that worked previously.  The programmer and functional staff continue to work on this.
Other
  • LIMT noted that there might still be an issue about COCO access ending on September 12.
  • LIMT needs to discuss 2004 Summit attendance at a future meeting.
