Manager’s Basic Banner training:
The Basic Finance Banner training for managers was offered to the Instruction and Student Services Managers (ISSM) at their regular meeting on Tuesday, July 2. Additional sessions will be offered on July 10 and 11 from 1:30-2:30p, with a one-hour optional lab time following each session. The sessions will offer a brief overview of the project, how to logon, and how to approve POs electronically. LIMT plans to provide individual training sessions for the president, VPs and AVPs if requested. Feedback regarding the training was positive.
Finance Update
The Finance “go live” celebration on July 3 was a success. James Brunner presented a framed copy of the “First Official Lane Purchase Order” to the team.
The Finance System went ‘live’ on Monday, July 1st – on time and within budget. (The entry of Purchase Orders began on June 24th). The SCT Finance Consultant was here the week of ‘go-live’ and said he liked what he saw. In addition to creating Purchase Orders, Accounts Receivable information from COCO has been successfully loaded into Banner – so meaningful revenue numbers are already available via Banner. Some problems were reported with Operations being able to print receipts. This is being looked into. It was further noted that the Operations team is not yet comfortable with the new system. There will be a meeting this week to determine the schedule for loading the approved budget into Banner.
HR Update
HR will meet with union representatives again today at 10:00a to discuss the lag pay issue, the two-hour closure of the HR office is going well, and employee training materials are being developed. HR has discovered that employees in certain areas do not have access to computers. Project monies are available to provide new computers and printers to those areas.
Student Update
Integrating Extended Learning and ‘Credit’ curricula is proving to be quite a challenge to the Student team. Recent campus organizational restructuring efforts have introduced additional ‘non-Banner-related’ issues which need to be addressed before the Catalog and Schedule can be designed. The ELAG (Extended Learning Advisory Group) is working on a first pass of a course identification ‘correlation’ with credit courses.
Financial Aid Update
The Financial Aid team continues to work on their ‘homework’. |
