Report to the Lane Community College Board
LASR Project
December, 2002

The project is on schedule and within budget. Changes at SCT have resulted in a reassignment of our Project Manager, James Brunner, to a new role of Account Manager. He will continue to provide some project management services to Lane and will also serve as our Account Manager. This change will result in additional functional consulting hours being available to Lane, and Team Leaders are working on scheduling details now.

FINANCE
Following the acceptance of the Audit report by the Board last month, the Finance Team has begun working to bring the balances for balance sheet accounts forward from COCO into Banner. Work also continues to establish the proper beginning balances for this year's budget. The Finance Team has further training in budget development scheduled for the first week of February. Contact: Stan Barker, Ext. 5608.

HUMAN RESOURCES
The Human Resources (HR) Team is in the final month of testing prior to the January 1 ìgo liveî date. More than 1,200 employees have received training in entering leave and time information using ExpressLane. Managers and Administrative Assistants have been trained on approving leave and timesheet records electronically, and the campus participated in a successful trial payroll test for the pay period ending November 15, using ExpressLane to enter leave and timesheet data and to record manager approvals. A second test is underway for the pay period ending November 30, and training of employees will continue through mid-December and resume in January. Processes are in place for employees to request supplemental pay in January to ease the transition from a monthly to a semi-monthly pay cycle. Creditor letters are available for employees to use in requesting adjustments to regular payments as needed. The HR Department began using Banner to track job applicants for open Lane positions in mid-November. Contact: Linda Simmons, Ext. 5313.

STUDENT
The Student Core Team is in month 12 of the 18-month implementation and is on schedule to meet the go-live date of June 2, 2003. The team is concentrating on converting data from the current COCO system over to Banner and continues to work with campus staff to "clean" the data before it is moved. Preparations are underway to design and implement the training of end-users, faculty and students on the new system. This will take place over the course of both winter and spring terms. The student system will be "live" for the 2003-2004 academic year. Contact: Helen Garrett, Ext. 5686.

SERIES 25 AND SCHEDULING
The Series 25 Implementation Team is working in earnest to evaluate and inventory facilities data so testing of the scheduling software can begin in conjunction with the Student Team and building classes for summer term.

The Series 25 software package has two components ñ classroom scheduling and events scheduling ñ and it is designed to operate with our Banner software. Our primary goal with this conversion project is to design and implement an effective and efficient room-scheduling system at Lane. The software will be used to schedule events and classes at Lane, beginning with Summer Term 2003. Contact: Craig Taylor, Ext. 5364.

FINANCIAL AID
The Financial Aid Banner Team completed the sixth week of training on November 14. The session covered several student aid processes mandated by federal regulations, including satisfactory academic progress, mid-year transfer monitoring, return of unearned Title IV funds and various reporting processes. The Financial Aid Banner Team is working on refining Lane's financial aid process in Banner, developing appropriate information for students to support the application process, and designing initial information requests and tracking processes. The team met with the Student Core Team for half a day on November 19 and reached agreements about several shared data structures that support processes in both areas. The financial aid module is scheduled to be operational for the 2003-2004 academic year, with a March 3 2003 ìgo liveî date. Contact: Linda DeWitt, Ext. 3006.
