LASR Project
October 1 , 2001
The college is beginning Phase II of the Lane Administrative
System Renewal (LASR) Project. Phase II is a two-year implementation
process for the SCT Banner administrative software system. Linda DeWitt
is serving as Lane's LASR Project Director, and James Brunner is the
SCT Project Manager for the project.
TIMELINE
The college is taking a phased approach to implementation. The
Banner software is conceptually divided into four modules, and the ėgo
liveî or
operational dates for each module are based on the natural business cycle
for each area. The chart below shows beginning dates and ėgo liveî dates
for each module.

HARDWARE, SOFTWARE
The HP9000 is installed and operational. Installation of the Oracle
database and the Banner software is complete. Banner forms are accessible
through a client/server process and also using a web interface. We
will eventually have Lane staff using each of these access modes.
IMPLEMENTATION UPDATE
The LASR Training Center (Building 16, Room 144) is operational. The
programmers attended Banner Technical Training the week of September 10
and the first Finance Configuration visit was the week of September 17. Lane's
Finance Team is working on a first draft of the college's Banner chart
of accounts in preparation for the second Finance configuration visit,
the week of October 8.
STEERING COMMITTEE
The LASR Steering Committee is a shared governance body charged with
oversight for all phases of the LASR project. Members are:

LIMT TEAM
On September 13, the LASR Steering Committee approved a charter for the LASR
Implementation Management Team (LIMT). LIMT is charged with ensuring
that the project implementation objectives are met and that the project provides
for adequate and appropriate communication with the campus. LIMT members
are:

As the college moves through implementation, LIMT will identify additional
project teams. Stan Barker, the LIMT representative from College Finance
is providing leadership for the Finance implementation. The following

Before the project is completed, almost all Lane employees will be involved in
activities ranging from system configuration and setup to operational and casual
user training.
LASR Project staff are currently scheduling visits with
different areas of the college and with various campus groups to answer
questions about the project and to gather information about needs. Our
goals are to make sure that we design the system to best meet department
and division needs; improve staff efficiency and effectiveness; and improve
service to Lane's students and staff.
Regular informational LASR Updates are scheduled from
3:00 to 5:00 on the first Friday of each month. Meetings will be held in the Boardroom. All
members of the Lane community are invited to attend. The purpose
of these monthly meetings is to provide the campus community with information
about the project, a progress update and an opportunity to ask questions.
