Report to the Lane Community College Board
LASR Project
May, 2002
The project is on schedule and within budget.
FINANCE
Finance is in the final 2 months of preparation
for the July 1 ėgo liveî date. The Accounts Payable Team has entered
2,000 vendors into the Banner database. This team is also working
with programmer Thwing Havens on formatting Accounts Payable checks,
using the eVisions software. The Finance Team has designed and
entered 64 purchasing approval queues to automatically route purchase
orders generated by departments for approvals, as needed. A sub-team
of the Finance Team is working on designing the end-user training for
purchasing and finance, which will be offered in June for Lane employees
with purchasing and budgeting responsibilities. The plan is to use
whenever possible for staff
to access Banner information, because this is a relatively simple and
intuitive interface. Work is progressing on the Grants Module. The
Funded Projects accountants will provide one-on-one training for grant
administrators in the summer.
FINANCE USER TRAINING
The first series of Excel trainings for
Lane staff needing access to financial information was completed in April. Based
on feedback from participants and from staff who were not able to attend
due to schedule conflicts, the Excel training series will be repeated
in May, with Banner user training in June. We plan to schedule
the training on extracting Banner data to a desktop application at a
later date.
HUMAN RESOURCES
The Human Resources Team has completed the
majority of the rule and validation tables needed to implement Banner
Human Resources. They continue to work on validating payroll outcomes
using the 102 test cases they built in the system. Work also continues
on processes that cross departmental boundaries between Human Resources
and College Finance. The next SCT configuration visit the week
of May 6 will cover electronic approval processes and web services for
Lane employees using
The Banner HR System will be
fully implemented and ready for use by all College employees on January
1, 2003.
STUDENT
The Student Core Team completed their fourth
training April 25. This session focused on registration and fee
assessment. The Student Module Banner trainings serve as an opportunity
for the Student Core Team to systematically evaluate current policies
and procedures, to examine what the best practice is and how the Banner
system can help Lane implement best practices. The team is also
making great progress in the areas of integrating credit and non-credit
processing and systems. The student system will be ėliveî for the
2003-2004 academic year.

of implementing the final module of Banner, Financial Aid. The
core team for this part of the project includes:
