Lane Administrative Systems Renewal
RFP Phase

Approach

The LASR Project Team is responsible for completing all deliverables in RFP Phase. The team meets three times a week for two hours each day to complete the RFP Phase assignments.

The software selection is limited to two vendors: Datatel (Colleague) and SCT (Banner). The Project Team will develop a 'thin RFP', a document that communicates to the vendors in general terms about the college's requirements and asks them to propose solutions that meet the requirements. The solutions will include hardware, software and support services. The vendor response will include costs to purchase and operate the system for five years.

The team will develop evaluation criteria prior to receiving vendor replies. Final selection will be based on information from vendor responses, installed-site visits, other contacts with vendor clients and possibly vendor presentations.

We anticipate that there will be a negotiation phase where components of the proposed solution and purchase will be negotiated. The team is considering using a consultant to help guide the process.

The timeline for RFP Phase is aggressive. We recognize that and we are willing to lengthen this RFP Phasef we believe it is in the best interest of the college.

The team plans to keep the campus community involved in the work of this phase via announcements in The Daily, a web page dedicated to the project, regular open forums and presentations at other campus meetings.
