Frequently Asked Questions
How do we pay Part-Time Credit Instructors for Fall In-service Participation?
Consistent with the faculty contract and the manner in which this issue has been handled for the past two academic years under the new LCCEA contract (see contract language in Article 9.2.2 of the Faculty Contract) part-time faculty are eligible for up to 16 hours of in-service compensation for fall in-service based upon actual hours spent engaged directly with in-service activities - NOT for class preparation, the faculty prep days or simple curriculum planning - but for attending staff meetings, the back-to-school college event on Monday, September 23, and other ASSIGNED in-service related meetings.
Part-time faculty are to enter the hours for fall in-service compensation directly on ExpressLane before October 15th, they are paid at the part-time faculty rate of compensation, and these hours are subject to management approval. The funding for the part-time faculty in-service hours comes directly from the part-time faculty budget in each department/division for this instructional work.
