Career Overview
Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) provide direct, hands-on physical therapy interventions for individuals recovering from illness or injury. PTAs work under the supervision of a physical therapist (PT) in implementing, progressing, and modifying specific treatment and interventions according to the plan of care. PTAs document treatment and support the physical therapist by performing assigned routine clinical functions. PTAs are valued members of the health care team who educate and advocate for patients and families.
Program Accreditation
The PTA program at Lane CC was granted Initial Accreditation by CAPTE for a period of five years at its fall meeting on November 4-9, 2011. (CAPTE, 1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA 22314; phone: 703-706-3245; email accreditation@apta.org).
Potential Rewards and Earnings
