Council Member & Ex-Officio Statements
Classified Council will take on a new form but will continue to function
John Thompson’s son’s photos were shared. Benjamin was born on May 9 at 4:43 a.m. He weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz. and was 20 inches long at birth.
Concerns were expressed over the use of electronic collection of student evaluation information for developmental evaluations. There will be a report from the faculty leads on the EEIC at the May 28 meeting.
The April 9th Minutes were approved with minor corrections
Confirmation decisions were made on the following:
Results of Faculty vote on revised Charter and proposed by-laws for
implementation
Bob Barber presented the results of the vote (58 Yes, 3 No) by faculty
on the revised Charter, and procedures for implementation (by-laws) for
the elections of co-chairs and representatives for 2004-2005.
Proposed Faculty appointments to the Governance Council
The proposal for the number of appointments to the Governance Councils
by the Faculty Council was adopted. Procedures for selection were presented.
It was stated that requests to name governance council representatives
may be made to the Council shortly. If so, a call for interested faculty
will be made and nominations taken up at the May 28 meeting.
Accreditation Self Study Evaluation Process
Russell Shitabata presented requests from the Self Study Leadership Team
for feedback on Standard 1.A.5; Standard 1.B.4. Mission, Goals, and Planning;
and a questionnaire regarding Lane’s outgoing Governance System.
Please send your completed survey to Mason Davis via intercampus mail
as quickly as possible.
Status of the Vice Presidential Search
Mark Harris and Mary Brau gave a status report of the search. Eight finalists
have been selected and will be scheduled for interviews in late May and
early June. The interview day for each will be six hours long. This will
include a forum session that faculty are encouraged to attend and to submit
feedback to the Selection Committee.
A proposal was made to have Faculty Council members participate in the
hosting of the finalists. This has yet to be discussed by the Selection
Committee.
