Invitation to Faculty Connections | Invitation main page
The spring call goes out to “new” colleagues and experienced faculty mentors.
Faculty Colleagues
With spring term approaching an end, please take some time to consider participation in the Faculty Connections program in the fall. Let me know as soon as possible of your plans to attend, so that time can be saved contacting you throughout the summer.
Faculty Connections is the exemplary faculty-led program to integrate new colleagues into the faculty and the college. By “new” colleagues we mean:
- Colleagues new to both permanent and adjunct positions at Lane
- Permanent colleagues on probation
- Relatively new adjunct colleagues who want a broader view of and more integration into faculty life at the college.
We also invite participation of experienced colleagues who want, through mentoring activities, to help our new colleagues become more integrated into the whole faculty.
This fall, Faculty Connections activities will again start off the academic year. We will continue the traditional of useful and engaging program events. In the last years relatively few full-time positions were filled, so we take the opportunity to deal more fully with integrating part-time faculty colleagues into the whole faculty, which is of interest to both full- and part-time colleagues. This component of the program will continue.
In addition, we anticipate a program of Faculty Connections events throughout the next year.
Please contact me if you are interested in participating in the fall activities either as a relatively new permanent or adjunct colleague or as an experienced faculty mentor. In addition to the satisfaction of being part of creating connection among colleagues, a small stipend is available for participants.
September 19 and 20, with in-service starting Wednesday, September 21.
Liz Coleman,
on behalf of the Faculty Connections
Steering Committee
