Procedure:     Outreach Credit Classes
Department:    LCC at Cottage Grove
Contact:          Jenette Kane, (541) 463-5915         kanej@lanecc.edu

Outreach credit classes offered by the college will be administered with support from appropriate academic divisions.  The goal is to maintain high quality instructional services and to continue to offer, through effective planning, appropriate credit classes and necessary support services to residents of the college service area.  Contracted credit training classes will be provided in cooperation with the appropriate outreach center and academic division.

The determination of need will be the responsibility of the outreach locations in cooperation with academic division personnel to identify special interest groups.

Scheduling of credit classes in outreach areas will be the responsibility of outreach staff with advisory input from academic division staff.

Outreach center staff will provide appropriate facilities for outreach credit classes.

Faculty recruitment will be a primary responsibility of the outreach center administrator with support of the academic division as appropriate.  Certification of faculty is the primary responsibility of the academic division chair.  At Florence and Cottage Grove, the outreach center administrator will have the primary responsibility for selecting faculty; whereas at the Community Learning Centers, the academic division will have the primary responsibility for selecting faculty.  Outreach administrators and academic division chairs will work together to ensure that any special needs of students in outreach credit classes are considered when selecting faculty.

Registration and sales of approved textbooks or other student materials will be conducted by outreach center staff.

At Florence and Cottage Grove, performance evaluation and decisions to renew instructor assignments will be the primary responsibility of the outreach center administrator and the academic division chair will have secondary responsibility; whereas at the Community Learning Centers, the academic division chair will have primary responsibility for this function.

Outreach locations fund the majority of credit classes held at those locations, although academic divisions can also fund credit classes if agreed upon in advance by the outreach staff.
