Grades
1. Letter Grades
A+, A, A- indicates excellent performance.
B+, B, B- indicates good performance.
C+, C, C- indicates satisfactory performance.
D+, D, D- indicates less than satisfactory performance.
F indicates unsatisfactory performance (no credit: always include last date of attendance).
P indicates Pass (A-, B and C will automatically be replaced by "P" when the Pass/No Pass option has been requested. A+ and A will be recorded as "A+" and "A", not "P").
NP indicates No Pass (D+, D, D-, and F will automatically be replaced by "NP" when the Pass/No Pass option has been requested).
NC (No Credit): Issuing a grade of "NC" is at the instructor's discretion and is used when the instructor believes the student has not participated enough in the class to earn a grade. It is not meant and should not be used to replace an "F" or "Incomplete". Always include the last date of attendance.
U indicates Audit (class taken for personal enrichment).
I indicates Incomplete: When a student has satisfactorily completed 75 percent or more of the course work but is unable to finish the remaining required scheduled work due to circumstances beyond the student's control. An Incomplete grade is not used to avoid a failing grade or if scheduled work is not time convenient for the student. A grade of Incomplete must be made up within one calendar year from the last day of the original term it was taken.
2. Grade Points
Grades and grade points that are included in the computation of the Grade Point Average (GPA) are assigned as follows:
A+ = 4.30 C+ = 2.30
A = 4.00 C = 2.00
A- = 3.70 C- = 1.70
B+ = 3.30 D+ = 1.30
B = 3.00 D = 1.00
B- = 2.70 D- = 0.70
F = 0.00
P, NP, NC, I and U are not used to compute GPA
It will always be possible for a student to earn a 4.30 GPA for the term. Pass/No-Pass, Incomplete, No Credit and Audit have no effect on the student's earned credit or GPA credit.
To compute GPA, first find the total grade points for each class by multiplying the points for the grade times the credits for the class. Then add up all the credits and all the points. The GPA is then computed by dividing the total points by the total credits (and rounding up to the nearest one-hundredth).

Pass/No Pass Classes
Specific classes may be offered on a Pass/No Pass basis. All such classes will have the Pass/No Pass notation placed in the note section of the term schedule and students enrolled in the class will receive either P, NP, NC or I. If a student earns an "A" in a Pass/No Pass class, the "A" is recorded on the transcript. |
