Managers are responsible for ensuring that their marketing publications meet college standards. The college requires that all brochures and similar promotional pieces need to present accurate information, use acceptable spelling, punctuation and grammar, utilize design and photography that will present a positive image of the college, properly use the college logo, and comply with state and federal laws.
Brochures should contain contact information such as phone number, e-mail address and/or web address, and an accessibility notice is now required that states: This information is available in alternate formats upon request by contacting Disability Resources at (541) 463-5150 (voice), (541) 463-3079 (TTY), or disabilityresources@lanecc.edu (e-mail). On brochures and similar publications that are for the purpose of recruitment, the college’s affirmative action statement—the short version is “an equal opportunity/affirmative action institution”—is also necessary.
Layout work and printing of department brochures is typically done by the Printing/Graphics department. The Marketing and Public Relations department can answer questions related to department brochures, offer suggestions on writing and design, and offer photographs for use in department publications. More information about developing college brochures is available at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/mpr/broch.htm, and information about writing for college publications is available at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/mpr/wr_style.htm.
Because of their high visibility, posters that will be prominently displayed off campus need to be reviewed and approved by Marketing and Public Relations before printing.
