Procedure: Sales and Advertising on Campus

The advertising or the distribution and sale of commercial products by a profit-making or private organization, not directly related to or part of any college operation or program, is prohibited except as described below.
Advertising and sales conducted as part of the Bookstore, Foodservices, and similar college enterprises is permitted. Certain extracurricular commercial activities that receive the specific approval of the director of Student Life and Leadership Development are permitted. Those individuals or organizations receiving approval for extracurricular commercial sales and activities shall dedicate a minimum of 15 percent of their gross profit to an official non-profit campus or community organization.
Facilities Scheduling for Sales Activities
1. Scheduling for a facility will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
2. Facilities scheduled for sales activities must be approved by Student Life and Leadership Development.
3. No individual or organization shall be allowed to schedule sales activities more than three times in any given term. Sales, other than bake sales, are limited to two consecutive days.
a. Bake sales may be scheduled a maximum of four times in any given term by the same individual or group.
b. Food sales (bake sales, etc.) shall not be scheduled so that they are in direct competition with Lane Foodservices sales. Food sold in the Foodservices area must be "packaged" or sold in bulk.
i. Pies, cakes, etc., shall not be sold by the piece.
ii. Cookies, cupcakes, candy, etc., must be sold in units of 1/2 dozen or more, wrapped, sacked, or boxed.
c. Bake sales held and food sold in other campus areas are not subject to the "package" rule.
