We have the nation’s best president
Mary Spilde named CEO of the Year
Mary Spilde, President |
The Board of Education is proud and delighted to announce that Lane Community College President Mary Spilde was named CEO of the Year by the Association of Community College Trustees at its annual congress in Dallas, Texas.
The prestigious 2011 Marie Y. Martin Chief Executive Award was announced at an October 14 awards event. Some of us were there and it was a thrilling evening. As Pat Albright said, "It was fascinating to watch Mary go to the lectern and say she was almost speechless after being named the national winner. Then, in true Mary fashion, she proceeded to give the best speech of all of the winners in all of the other categories." We can all attest that the award is a well-earned recognition of the tremendous contributions Mary has made to Lane.
The CEO of the Year Award is the highest honor bestowed by ACCT, a nonprofit educational organization representing elected and appointed trustees at two-year colleges. Mary was selected from five regional award winners nominated from among the 1,200 colleges in the United States, Canada, and other countries served by ACCT.
Mary has been Lane's president since 2001 and she is a national authority on community colleges, workforce development, and sustainability. Join us in congratulating Mary!
