Articles - Fall 2011 - return to index

Mary Spilde, LCC PresidentFall Opportunities

Fall term provides an opportunity to refresh and renew yourself, reenergize your dreams and update your plans. This is what we had in mind when we took a long look at our old Aspire Magazine. We decided it was time for a makeover to better meet the community’s lifelong learning and career development needs.

The revised Community Education Class Schedule is tailored to those of you who want to learn a new skill or craft, study a topic that will enrich your life, receive short-term training to advance your opportunities in the workplace, or get assistance with starting and growing a small business. Our
revamped content now focuses on your interests.

Another reason for the revision is due to evolving student trends. Changes in technology motivate most credit students to register online before receiving the schedule, but noncredit students prefer to have printed information at their fingertips all term long.

The change also offers cost savings for the college, an increasingly important consideration as public funding for education continues to decline. We strive to be efficient while preserving quality, choice and affordability for students.

Our bottom line is your success. As you aspire to learn, we hope you find the renewed Community Education Class Schedule a useful and enjoyable tool.
