Joe Luker presented a proposal for the installation of additional window bar-type seating for 32 persons. The seating to be located against windows on the West side of Dining Room, First Floor Center Building. The estimated cost is $11,000 with a goal of Spring Break as the installation date. FMC approved the proposal. Joe will be coordinating project with Mike Ruiz. Mary Spilde introduced the request from Barbara Delansky for ISCP space needs. It was recommended that the ISCP item be scheduled for next FMC meeting agenda to allow for more research and details. Paul Colvin introduced gLAs Architects. A revised Project Schedule and Schematic Drawings were issued and presented by the Architects. Projects appear on schedule. Programming and the Schematic Phase of the Projects should be completed by mid March. Mid March to Mid April is scheduled for review of Project Costs. Design Development Phase to follow from Mid April. Users reactions to Programming and Schematic Phases conducted by the Architects have been favorable. Architects seek feedback from FMC and others for work recently presented. John Winquist presented a request for a Temporary-Students First! space with Steelcase furnishings for 9 stations at the Lobby Floor of the Center Building. John issued drawings showing the vicinity of the temporary area and the Steelcase computer stations layout. FMC approved the request but suggested that the area be renamed "Demo-Students First!." Mike Ruiz discussed a study currently being conducted by Campus Services regarding the installation of new handrails on campus. Existing areas or conditions being looked at for new handrails (where there are none or inadequate) are: at stairs and ramps around the campus building complex and extending to activities in the fields. Rough estimates show costs could run up to $250,000. Mike's purpose for presenting this item was to receive FMC comments on the scope of this item as a project and its manner of funding. Main FMC comments: refine scope of project to ADA accessible routes and to prioritize areas of requirements: ie; accessible routes only, other paths, stairs and ramps, safety concerns, etc. Mike Ruiz mentioned that the preliminary planning work for the LCC-Wildish Building Interior Remodel project is nearly complete. Except for the remodeling of restrooms and a few walls the project consists of mostly Steelcase officescape furnishings. Project may be scheduled for construction completion this year. Paul Colvin reported that he is working with the architects to address the costs estimates recently received. The estimates currently show the project to be over budget. Paul will be sending out copies of the Schematic Documents to FMC members. Thursday, 19 February 1998 3:00 PM ADM216
