SCIENCE ADDITION

October 16, 2000 Update

WHAT IS THAT BOX ATOP THE SCIENCE BUILDING?
Regardless of speculation about a huge classroom, extra offices, or even a facility to track alien activity, the large square structure atop the Science building is really a mechanical penthouse. The 33'x56' structure houses the multi-zoned HVAC system for the west addition. The system itself occupies half of the building with the large ducts that supply and return air to the west addition taking up the remaining space. Turning to construction activities, Hyland Construction continues to make steady progress on all additions. Sheetrock and insulation work has begun in certain sectors of the second floor of the west addition. Interior framing continues in the south addition. Infrastructure work is proceeding in all areas. On the exterior of the west addition, the south entrance walkway is gaining greater definition as sidewalk work progresses.

Questions and comments about any bond construction activity may be directed to 744-4154 or e-mailed to
bond@lanecc.edu. All communication received will be regularly reviewed by the Bond Project Management Team (BPMT), the architects, and the Facilities Management Committee.
