February 23, 2000 Update
Science/Math:
Asbestos abatement work is planned for finals week. Exterior work will occur during the day but is expected to involve only hand tools, no power equipment. Interior work will be done from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The material to be removed is non-friable and should cause no air quality disturbance. Asbestos materials must be removed before X-raying for seismic upgrading can be done. Similar asbestos abatement work will occur on all remodel projects. In other work, various footing, concrete pouring, and plumbing work continues. The project is still about five weeks behind schedule due to structural design work problems.
