SCIENCE ADDITION

February 7, 2000 Update

Science/Math:
Science staff felt a shudder last Thursday when a cement truck backed under a protruding lateral concrete beam and got stuck. The truck was able to pull clear and the beam is being inspected for structural integrity. Facilities manager Mike Ruiz called it an informal seismic test. (Seismic upgrades are planned for this and other remodels.) This week's activities include some underslab braising by the plumbers, and plans are being made for asbestos removal. Asbestos is present in exterior transite board and in the mastic which holds ceiling tiles in place, both of which will be disturbed by construction.

Questions and comments about any bond construction activity may be directed to 744-4154 or e-mailed to
bond@lanecc.edu. All communication received will be regularly reviewed by the Bond Project Management Team (BPMT), the architects, and the Facilities Management Committee.
