![]() FURNISHINGS PLANThe Bond Project Management Team recommends a two-phase approach to furnishing the projects:Phase I - Provide new furnishings only where existing furniture and Steelcase is inadequate for intended function, is structurally failing, or is non-existent because the space is ìadditionalî to the users. Phase II - As budget permits, replace ìborderlineî furnishings which were deemed acceptable in Phase I but were not desirable for aesthetic or other reasons. (This phase begins when all projects are sufficiently under way that furnishings under Phase 1 can be confidently predicted.) The BPMT recommends the following furnishing guidelines, which are consistent with the FMTís charge to the furnishings committees and recognize the difficulty of projecting furnishing costs for the entire bond project. 1. All spaces in the WTC Conference Center and in the lobby of the Student Services Building will receive new furniture and Steelcase. 2. Generally, offices in the Student Services Building, which use Steelcase, will receive new Steelcase. Steelcase from existing Student Services operations will be used to meet other Steelcase needs in the bond project. 3. With the exception of the above, existing furniture and Steelcase, which is functional, will be used in facilities touched by Bond construction. Criteria for determining which existing furniture can be used shall be as follows. 1) Functional for intended use 2) Structurally sound 4. Furnishings developed as ìstandardî by the two committees will be used in all additional bond-constructed or bond-remodeled areas unless there is compelling reason to deviate from the standards. 5. The ultimate decision regarding reuse of specific furniture items will rest with the Bond Project Management Team. 6. Existing furniture and Steelcase not moved to a new facility will be placed into storage and will be available for reallocation by the Bond Project Management Team and the furnishings committees into any campus space. 7. Departments may add their own funds to those available from the Bond furnishings budget for furniture purchase or construction which goes beyond the standards developed by the two committees. The Bond Project Management Team and the committees will communicate furnishing policies and procedures with the staff. Questions and comments about any bond construction activity may be directed to 744-4154 or e-mailed to bond@lanecc.edu. All communication received will be regularly reviewed by the Bond Project Management Team (BPMT), the architects, and the Facilities Management Committee. | ![]() |
