Bond Update - October 25, 1999
THE WELDING BUILDING
Siding and roofing panels are being fastened to the steel superstructure of the Welding building. The equipment yard and parking lot are being paved. Power will be supplied to the building during the Thanksgiving holiday, necessitating a power shutdown for some buildings. The power shut-down will be announced in The Daily in advance.
THE CAMPUS SERVICES ADDITION
Contractors have finished removing rock. Plumbing is being roughed in and crews are preparing to pour footings. An existing sewer line exposed by the site work will be rerouted. A temporary wall has been built inside the existing building to provide occupants some protection from addition construction activity.
THE SCIENCE/MATH ADDITION
This project is out to bid. Bids will be opened Nov. 9 and if Responses are within budget, the Board of Education will be asked to award the construction contract at its Nov. 10 meeting.
PARKING LOT LANDSCAPING CONTINUES.
Landscaping soil preparation on the west side parking lot islands was completed last week. Handrails were installed for the cement steps that connect the lots. Concrete was poured for the lighting fixture bases but the fixtures themselves are not expected to be installed until mid-November due to a supply delay. Temporary lighting for the Child Care lot is being discussed. Curbs have been painted yellow to discourage illegal parking, and a new yellow crosswalk has been added to Gonyea Road. Facilities superintendent Mike Ruiz says the lots are getting heavy use during the day.
THE CHILD CARE PROJECT
Floor slabs are complete for Buildings 1 and 2, footings have been poured for Building 3, and footing forms are being constructed for Building 4. The complex should be completed in March, however, child care staff probably won't move in until June after classes have concluded.
