Bond Update - July 9, 1999

New LTD Site Developed for Main Campus

Bond construction on LCCís main campus necessitates a relocation of the LTD facility and route. Currently, the Bond Project Management Team and architects are considering the Dale Parnell Loop as the new area for LTDís facilities. In so doing, attention is also being given to the moderate enhancement of the current west entrance to the college. Consideration of bus and entrance issues center on several areas. First, a strong effort is being made to incorporate space for buses and people in a manner that is practical, effective, inviting and beneficial to all campus users. Designs are being developed that reflect comfortable shelters that are pleasing to use as well as visually compatible with and complimentary of the environment of Dale Parnell Loop. Secondly, moderate enhancement of the west entrance will reflect design themes incorporated in bus facilities. Congruency in LCCís west entrance and LTDís facilities will produce a sense of purpose, campus character and pleasing functionalism.

Next week, preliminary concepts and drawings will be presented to LTD for discussion. Because LCC must relocate the current bus route due to construction, an understanding has been reached regarding LTDís financial responsibility for the new bus facilities and route.

Summer Student Notification of Main Campus Construction Traffic

Notices regarding current bond construction taking place on LCCís main campus have been distributed to those departments whose faculties are conducting classes during the summer months. Notices contain cautionary information regarding construction traffic on Eldon Schaffer Road and Gonyea Drive. Similar notices have been posted on main campus bulletin boards and the bond web page in an attempt to provide the safest environment possible during construction.

The Bond Project Management Team(BPMT) will be available during summer hours to provide information and answer any questions that may arise. All communication received by the BPMT during summer months will be reviewed regularly by the team, the architects, and the Facilities Management Committee. The BPMT can be reached at 744-4154, Email to Nancy Nichols, or on the web at http://2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/campsvcs/ie/
