![]() Board Approves Schematic DesignsBoard members unanimously approved the bond schematic designs and accompanying budgets at the July 8th meeting. This approval was made possible because of the dedication and perseverance of the Bond Management Team, Facilities Management Committee, and gLAs architects, but most specifically because of the countless hours and hard work of the PUG members. Congratulations to all for passing this hallmark point in the bond project process! As Paul Colvin stated at the meeting, the next phase of the project will be Design Development. In this phase, the architects will be adding tremendous detail to the schematic designs. For example, we will see more detailed floor plans, dimensions, the actual type of structure that will be used, the exact location of mechanical systems, specific locations and types of windows and doors as well as those areas that will have carpet or linoleum. As the Design Development phase progresses, drawings of exterior designs and elevations will also be generated. During this process, PUG involvement will remain much the same as it has been up to this point. gLAs architects will meet will the various PUGs to gather impute about specific design issues, they will then generate drawings that reflect PUG desires, and meet again with the PUGs to review the updated drawings. The first projects to enter the Design Development phase will be Welding, Students Services, Workforce Training, Science Addition and Child Care. Please refer to the Tentative Project Schedule included in the information at this WEB sight for further scheduling information. The Bond Management Team (BMT) will be available at 744-4154 or 747-4501 Ext. 2727 during summer hours to answer any questions and give information. All communication received by the BMT during the summer months will be reviewed regularly by the team, the architects and the Facilities Management Committee. | ![]() |
